How did this non-violence pledge campaign affect you?
    11/15/2008, 4:47pm

I think when we were outside at lunch, having people sign that peace pledge made it seem like there was peace over violence in school. Now, what I think hopefully people will stop the violence.

My experience from this whole thing was very awesome because I think we did help teens know about how violence shouldn’t be the solution

Going outside on lunch and promoting peace was cool. I felt like we had a connection and all those people actually signing were willing to be in peace.

I felt this week was very moving. I felt a sense of unity and community in the work that we did. Also, getting a chance to hear a few people’s story and background; what they’ve been through and how violence has clearly affected the life they live today. This experience has also reminded me how crucial it is to keep the peace and how much you can benefit from it. I am 17 years old, a senior in high school and I have had a realization: peace comes with maturity

Wow this week it was life turning. You realize so many things that were always in front of you. For example, people that you see everyday that you wouldn’t expect to be violent or have suffered harassment in the past, we can make them feel better by doing a simple thing as listening.

People have to know violence is not the solution. I know that peace is good so you can live peacefully not in fear that someone is going to do violence to you.

My experience was truly empowering. Like, I learned that violence could be settled in so many different ways.

I think this week was very powerful. Watching all those people walk to the table and sign the pledge and the petition was amazing. I was powerful and Inspiring and it was cool seeing people you wouldn’t expect to see for peace signing the paper. It was like peace can happen, violence isn’t the only way, and people can change for the best.
